I love Saturdays as its Knitcraft Social day at Hobbycraft Warrington! We start at about 10.30 and we aim to leave around 1 (although we have been there till gone 2 on occasion!)
Lisa and I took along a few nibbles to share with the other ladies to celebrate the launch of the CAL yesterday and she surprised me with a lovely gift for my birthday! (I was 32 on Tuesday, arrgh!)
How adorable is this gift box from Homespunwonders! It’s themed to your birthstone which is a very cool idea, I really love the beautiful yarn!! It’s very soft and squishy and it’s 400m 4ply, I can’t wait to make something with it!
Not only do you get gorgeous yarn to stroke, there are lots of other bits and pieces in there too. Paul has already pinched the sweets (no bad thing after the huge amount of cake I ate this morning lol).
Thank you so much for the fab birthday gift Lisa!

I was rummaging in the bottom of one of my many project bags on the hunt for a stray stitch marker when I found this adorable cactus I finished over a month ago! (I know it’s been that long as I have an app on my phone that I use to track my projects – I load the dates of starts and finishes, the yarn I’m using, the hook etc. It really helps with my shocking memory)
The pattern is by Super Cute Design and can be found here, her patterns are so adorable and can be purchased in bundles which save you a few pennies, always a bonus! As with most of my amigurumi makes I have used Stylecraft yarn.
I think it makes a cute addition to my bookshelf, and with it being crochet it wont injure the cat if she decided to investigate it!

I really love making Lalylala dolls, I was flicking through all the patterns with no idea which one to start so I decided to wing it and see what I could come up with using the basic doll pattern. It’s the first time I’ve added hair and I decided to make some simple jewellery to add, I figured the cute scissors charm would give a good ‘crafty’ touch 🙂
As I’m not brilliant at coming up with names I took the doll along to the #Knitcraft social I go to at Hobbycraft in Warrington (every Saturday 10.30 till 1ish) for ideas. In my mind Rainbow Head was a girl doll that loves crafts but as soon as Lisa from The Wee House of Crochet saw it she decided he was a male hair stylist called Sassoon! I’ve got to say I think she is right so Sassoon he is.

I have started my next Lalylala, I’m doing the mermaid using some gorgeous King Cole yarn. Can’t wait to share pics 🙂

I am so excited to finally be able to talk about the secret project I have been working on with Lisa from The Wee House of Crochet! Back in February we started designing a beautiful crochet blanket using Womens Institute yarn, to be released as a CAL by Hobbycraft!
A yarn bundle will be available on the Hobbycraft website from next Thursday at the bargain price of £24 and we have launched a Facebook group, click HERE to come along and join, hope to see you there!
I’m still working my way through my many unfinished objects, I have binned some, reclaimed the yarn from some, used some for other purposes and actually finished a few.
The next project I have picked back up to complete is affectionately known as the POW! blanket, I started it a while ago and got through one colour repeat before my usual blanket boredom set in (I’ve come to realise that I need to do a little blanket then swap to another project).
The yarn I’m using is Womens Institute DK from Hobbycraft. It’s always on 3 for 2 so it’s a really good option for big blankets!
I mentioned that I had re purposed some of my UFOs, Lisa from The Wee House of Crochet had the great idea to contact on twitter and ask if we could make some squares to decorate The Hugging Tree that gets yarn bombed in the memory of April Jones. Our whole crochet group got involved, we all pulled out squares we had stashed and even managed to make a few at the table on Saturday.
