This morning I posted the bonus patterns for The Water Garden CAL myself and The Wee House of Crochet designed for Knitcraft/Hobbycraft. I was desperate to make mine in shades of pink (I am so a pink girl) but I behaved myself and used the left overs from the blanket.
It’s a surprisingly roomy bag and will be fab to carry WIPs around, I’m going to gift this one to my friend Deborah and then make myself one in pinks. I decided against lining it as the holes in the daisy block are pretty small.
I also managed to start a pair of ballerina slippers by Heart Hook Home, they are so cute and everyone seems to be making them at the minute! I’m doing a practice one in some left over Caron Simply soft then I’ll choose something colourful to make myself a pair.
I think they’d make very cute Christmas gifts, is it acceptable to make your family and friends send you their foot measurements!
I’ve also been working on patterns for The Crochet Sanctuary, I’m very much in love with what we have been working on for the Saturday morning! I really wish I could share a photo because it’s so awesome but I really don’t want to ruin the surprise. It will be a whimsical weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!
It’s Friday again, didn’t that roll around fast! I’ve had a busy week with Birthdays and my brother visiting so I haven’t had a great deal of crafting time. I’m still working on hexagons for the bonus pattern for The Water Garden CAL (the last part of the pattern was released this morning!) I’ve also been doing a little Decopatch on something for The Crochet Sanctuary in June, obviously I can’t share a picture until after the event, I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise!
I’ve been trying to do a row or two each day on this baby blanket I started a while a go, it’s been slow going but it’s about half way there now. I love this baby prints yarn from Knitcraft/Hobbycraft, it came in some beautiful colourways but has sadly been discontinued. I tried several different patterns with it but none of them worked with the way the colours change. I decided it needed something very simple to let the colours speak for them selves so decided to wing it and do a very basic filet crochet stripe. Once it’s completed I will write the pattern up on here with the finished size and chain length etc.
Yesterday Paul and I went for a walk at one of the local nature reserves (Wigg Island in Runcorn). As the sun was shining I decided to take Alice Bunny with me to take a few outside photos, I made her over Christmas so there wasn’t a chance to take some nice pics in the daylight. (Pattern is from the Hobbycraft blog). You’ll find more pics below 😀
So that’s it for another week, thank you for stopping by.
I fully intended to blog at least weekly this year, doing well so far considering this is my first post of the new year! I’ve been so busy doing bits and pieces, getting ready for the The Crochet Sanctuary in a couple of weeks and working on the next Knitcraft crochet along with The Wee House of Crochet.
I can’t share any pics of the CAL as usual, we have to keep it hush hush but it should be released around Easter time! I know I am biased but it really is gorgeous. In between working on that I have also been making the bunny posted on the Hobbycraft blog a few weeks ago.
Since taking this picture I have crocheted the body and ears. I just need to line the ears with fabric and crochet the arms and legs. The design is a rabbit with a bow tie but I plan on making mine a nice necklace or something insead. I like to change things up so it’s very rare I use the yarn a pattern recommends but this time I am, it’s Womens Institute Soft and Chunky in cream. So to put my own stamp on it I’ll make different accessories 🙂
I’ve also made a job lot of cute bear stitch markers for The Crochet Sanctuary. We are running a Toft workshop where everyone will pick one of the fab kits to make an animal. Lisa and I thought it would be nice for everyone to have a hand made stitch marker to use during the workshop so I knocked these up ready!
I also managed to catch up on the Coastal Crochet seaside stash busting blanket yesterday! I’m just random picking colours out of my scrappy dk boxes (left overs from many amigurumi makes lol) I’m not sure about the red and black but the blanket is for my OH and he said he likes it so I’m just going with it! Eleonora from Coastal Crochet is hosting a workshop at our February Sanctuary and we are so excited for it.
My final thing to share is my most recent Lalylala finish. I started this Mici the Mermaid ages ago and got to the point where I needed to sew on all the tiny circles for her hair. After six I got bored and shoved in a bag but I pulled it out a few weeks ago and decided to finish it. Because I couldn’t be bothered with the circles I decided to pretend the ones already on were a hair band and add hair. I’ll be honest and say I wasn’t happy with it so it went back in the bag for a week lol.
I decided last minute to take it along to the Knitcraft social at Warrington Hobbycraft the following week to get opinions from the ladies. We often get people stopping by to see what we are up to and a little girl stopped with her mum and cousin, her mum told us she is mermaid obsessed! She gave the mermaid a squeeze and stroked her hair before handing it back to me. Before they left she came around the table to give the mermaid ‘one last cuddle’ and my heart told me I had brought the mermaid to group because it was destined to go home with this little girl. The look on her face when I told her she should take it was priceless! A few mins after they had left she ran back upstairs with a thank you card for me. I’m not really a soppy or emotional person but I have to say it melted me a bit, I think Mermaid Maker would be a great job title!

I can’t believe the second CAL I have designed with Lisa from The Wee House of Crochet is complete! We are starting to get some gorgeous photos of the blanket on our Facebook page and I couldn’t wait any longer to share some of them 🙂
There are so many beautiful colourways being posted as well as lots of the Happy Wishes & Snowflake Kisses bundle and the Crisp Skies & Full of Surprise bundle. So fantastic 😀
In other news we only have a couple of rooms left for The Crochet Sanctuary in February! What could be better than a weekend full of crochet, food, luxury accommodation and fun! It’s a perfect Christmas gift… even if you buy it for yourself! Drop us an email at email@example.com for more info.

I’m so excited that our new CAL for Knitcraft is live on the Hobbycraft blog! Myself and Lisa had so much fun designing it, even though we had a limited time to get it done! (this was because we had no intentions of doing a Christmas CAL this year but the lovely members of our Facebook group really wanted it!)
Hobbycraft have listed two different bundles on their website, Happy Wishes and Snowflake Kisses which is the colourway I chose and Crisp Skies and Full of Surprise which is the second colourway Lisa chose as there was an issue with one of the colours in her first choice. Her second choice is just as gorgeous though 🙂
We are so happy with the positive reactions to the CAL and we can’t wait to see progress pics!
