Busy busy!

I fully intended to blog at least weekly this year, doing well so far considering this is my first post of the new year! I’ve been so busy doing bits and pieces, getting ready for the The Crochet Sanctuary in a couple of weeks and working on the next Knitcraft crochet along withΒ The Wee House of Crochet.

I can’t share any pics of the CAL as usual, we have to keep it hush hush but it should be released around Easter time! I know I am biased but it really is gorgeous. In between working on that I have also been making the bunny posted on the Hobbycraft blog a few weeks ago.

Since taking this picture I have crocheted the body and ears. I just need to line the ears with fabric and crochet the arms and legs. The design is a rabbit with a bow tie but I plan on making mine a nice necklace or something insead. I like to change things up so it’s very rare I use the yarn a pattern recommends but this time I am, it’s Womens Institute Soft and Chunky in cream. So to put my own stamp on it I’ll make different accessories πŸ™‚

I’ve also made a job lot of cute bear stitch markers for The Crochet Sanctuary. We are running a Toft workshop where everyone will pick one of the fab kits to make an animal. Lisa and I thought it would be nice for everyone to have a hand made stitch marker to use during the workshop so I knocked these up ready!

I also managed to catch up on the Coastal Crochet seaside stash busting blanket yesterday! I’m just random picking colours out of my scrappy dk boxes (left overs from many amigurumi makes lol) I’m not sure about the red and black but the blanket is for my OH and he said he likes it so I’m just going with it! Eleonora from Coastal Crochet is hosting a workshop at our February Sanctuary and we are so excited for it.

My final thing to share is my most recent Lalylala finish. I started this Mici the Mermaid ages ago and got to the point where I needed to sew on all the tiny circles for her hair. After six I got bored and shoved in a bag but I pulled it out a few weeks ago and decided to finish it. Because I couldn’t be bothered with the circles I decided to pretend the ones already on were a hair band and add hair. I’ll be honest and say I wasn’t happy with it so it went back in the bag for a week lol.

I decided last minute to take it along to the Knitcraft social at Warrington Hobbycraft the following week to get opinions from the ladies. We often get people stopping by to see what we are up to and a little girl stopped with her mum and cousin, her mum told us she is mermaid obsessed! She gave the mermaid a squeeze and stroked her hair before handing it back to me. Before they left she came around the table to give the mermaid ‘one last cuddle’ and my heart told me I had brought the mermaid to group because it was destined to go home with this little girl. The look on her face when I told her she should take it was priceless! A few mins after they had left she ran back upstairs with a thank you card for me. I’m not really a soppy or emotional person but I have to say it melted me a bit, I think Mermaid Maker would be a great job title!

Finish! Sassoon the hair stylist

rsz_sassoon

I really love making Lalylala dolls, I was flicking through all the patterns with no idea which one to start so I decided to wing it and see what I could come up with using the basic doll pattern. It’s the first time I’ve added hair and I decided to make some simple jewellery to add, I figured the cute scissors charm would give a good ‘crafty’ touch πŸ™‚

As I’m not brilliant at coming up with names I took the doll along to the #Knitcraft social I go to at Hobbycraft in Warrington (every Saturday 10.30 till 1ish) for ideas. In my mind Rainbow Head was a girl doll that loves crafts but as soon as Lisa from The Wee House of Crochet saw it she decided he was a male hair stylist called Sassoon! I’ve got to say I think she is right so Sassoon he is.

Finish! Erna the Strawberry from Lalylala

rsz_img_3109

I have been crocheting like a mad woman recently but I haven’t been working on anything that I can share (it’s a bit of a secret project with the lovely Lisa from The Wee House of Crochet, and I’m so excited about it!). So I decided to take the Erna doll I finished a few weeks ago over to Wigg Island for some photos. I originally wanted to take pictures of her in the strawberry patch at my other halfs allotment, I have a whole scenario planned that I still might do, I just need to wait for the fruits to grow!

I really should of taken some close up photos of her to show off the beads sewn on as strawberry pips but I was having too much fun posing her (and entertaining the dog walkers who obviously thought I was crazy!)
